Project Managment Institute, Champlain Valley Chapter presents:
John Tashiro, Manager, City Market/Onion River Coop
"The Continued Evolution of the Co-op: Past, Present and Future"
Celebrating 45 years since starting as a buying club in the Old North End of Burlington, City Market Onion River Co-op had grown to become one of the most successful (and busiest) food coops in the country generating approximately $42 million in annual sales. With the recent opening of its South End location and the challenges that come with the transition to a multi-store organization, City Market remains relentlessly focused on its ENDs (aka mission) to provide access to healthy food offerings through strengthening local food systems and addressing food insecurity by serving its now over 13,000 Members, customers and broader community. Come join us as we hear from John Tashiro, City Market’s General Manager as he shares his reflections and experiences over a demanding, but exciting last few years leading the Co-op through its expansion and thinking about its future potential.
About John Tashiro:
25 years of living and working across four continents, John’s experience spans from the corporate world managing global brands and projects such as the Olympics Games to over a last decade in non profits addressing poverty in developing countries through Fair Trade and finding environmental solutions in partnership with businesses at 1% for the Planet. In 2015, he joined City Market and has been leading the organization through its expansion and next evolution.
